One dead as CISF jawan opens fire near Kolkata museum

A tragic incident unfolded near the Indian Museum in Kolkata on Saturday evening when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan opened fire indiscriminately at Kid Street Barrack. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm, resulting in the shooting of two jawans, with one of them succumbing to the injuries.

The CISF jawan responsible for the gunfire remained untraceable as of 8:30 pm, as reported by Lalbazar police officials. In response, a special force of the Kolkata police initiated a search operation both within and outside the barrack to locate the perpetrator. Kolkata Police Commissioner Binit Goyel rushed to the scene and is closely monitoring the ongoing operation.

Following the incident, a gathering of people occurred in front of the barrack, prompting the police to utilize a public address system to disperse the crowd. The situation is under investigation as authorities work to apprehend the CISF jawan responsible for the tragic incident.
